Household Hazardous Waste (HHW)
How do you know if you have Household Hazardous Waste in your home? Chances are that you do. Products that carry any warning labels such as (corrosive, flammable, poison) are considered HHW and special consideration must be given to responsibly disposing of these materials. Please see the list below for materials that you may have in your home. The County of Peterborough has seven HHW sites available for residents to use. One is a permanent site located at 400 Pido Road in the City of Peterborough and there are six seasonal sites. Please see our Recycling Depots Hours of Operation and the Depot Location Map. All County of Peterborough HHW facilities accept the above materials. The Facility located at 390 Pido Road in the City of Peterborough is also open to County Residents. This facility is open all year and accepts the following additional items. Additional items accepted only at the Pido Road Facility. Transporting HHW Materials We have included a few tips to help you safely transport your materials to our facilities.
Come and check out the free reuse area at your HHW depot! You'll find all kinds of paints and stains to make your home or cottage look great. Better yet, bring in your old, useable paints and stains and let someone else do the same! It's free and it's a great way to reduce waste and protect the environment.
