Administration/CAO
Responsibilities of the Chief Administrative Officer The CAO is the senior staff person for the County who is charged with exercising general control and management of the affairs of the municipality to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the municipality. Reporting to Council and the County Warden, the CAO draws upon the expertise of staff through a Management Team comprised of six Directors. Acting as the main resource to Council, the CAO must remain current on existing and proposed legislation in order for Council to make informed decisions. The CAO works closely with the County Warden, typically attending any meetings held with senior government officials and ensuring the Warden is provided with all the pertinent data to ensure a well-informed Council decision. An Administration Unit generates front-line support to the overall County operation. This includes greeting and directing both telephone and walk-in traffic. The unit also assists the administrative office by providing administrative/secretarial support to all departments. |
