On behalf of Peterborough County Council and the citizens of the County of Peterborough, I express my heartfelt sympathy for the victims in Haiti, their families and all the Haitian members of our community who have been affected by this severe earthquake. There are many humanitarian aid organizations who need our financial aid to assist the survivors and help rebuild critical infrastructure. I am always impressed with our resident's generosity for those most in need. Please support the international rescue effort now underway in Haiti.
Warden’s Message, First Quarter 2010
I consider it a great honour to sit in the Warden’s Chair for 2010, and will do everything in my power to live up to the traditions and responsibilities of County Warden. It will be a pleasure to work with the very knowledgeable and valuable councillors and staff, and I look forward to addressing the priority needs and projects of the County as a team.
In the first quarter Council will be facing the County budget. It is a demanding year and will force some difficult decisions, but I’m confident that we will be able to meet the needs and find solutions that best serve the County for the future. Priority issues will also continue to be a communicative relationship with the City, and working together with all parties to solve the challenges of EMS Off-Load delays.
I also look forward to working with the Eastern Ontario Warden’s Caucus, strategizing and implementing the large Eastern Ontario Rural Network project, and lobbying the government for the needs of our communities.
“Our History – Your Future” are more than four little words. Looking at the challenges ahead, Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow must always be on the County’s priority list.
Sincerely,
J. Murray Jones
Warden
